I’m in my third season of playing fantasy football and I thought it worthy to share my success thus far from the last 2 seasons.
In my first year of playing, I won the Championship. This feat had never been done before in this league that has been taking place for a number of years now. In my second season, I made it to the Super Bowl, but because of a roster line-up mistake (a.k.a Coaching Error), I ended up taking 2nd place.

This is the third season now and I think I’ve proven myself to the rest of the league that I’m a worthy opponent when it comes to this game.

Here’s the magnificent trophy that I got to display in my rookie year!

Well, it’s been far too long since I’ve had a chance to write a new post here, so now that the house is empty, I have some time to provide a quick recap of what a busy and quick 2010 it has been.

Spring

Congratulations to Christine on her marriage to Dan! I got to fly out to Denver to celebrate the great occasion! Colorado is still one of my favorite places to visit.

Ethan makes his first trip to the ER for a dislocated elbow he got at day care…turns out this is called nursemaid’s elbow, which is quite common. I could have saved a boat load of money by taking him to urgent care rather than a hospital. (Lesson learned)

I got to witness the aftermath of a cow eating it’s own placenta after giving birth to a calf just hours before…I had no idea they did that. What was even more interesting is the cats in the barn took part in the feast too

Summer

Congratulations to Jeff on his wedding! This time the whole family flew to Minneapolis to celebrate ! Our first time flying with both kids and it actually went pretty smooth! Kids loved visiting Mall of America as spent most of the day watching Taylor and Ethan’s reaction to seeing Dora and Sponge Bob.

Ethan’s second trip to see the Dr. was a result of a kitchen chair falling back and hitting him right above the eye. Luckily, the Dr. was able to mend the cut with skin glue as opposed to stitches

Angelina and I did the P90X from start to finish and even though we did not follow the dietary guidelines of the program, it definitely shed pounds and made me stronger.

Fall

It’s been a great football season, I played in 3 fantasy leagues this year and made it to 2 championship games. I won one and lost the other, but I think overall I came out with winnings.

The Bengals were disappointing this year after winning their division outright just last season. I was grateful to at least see 2 games at Paul Brown Stadium though. One against the Saints and the other against the Browns.

Ethan had his first Halloween trick or treat this year and he dressed up as Yoda. Taylor was a little fairy and Dad and his friend Mike spent the cold evening pulling the kids in their radio flyers and going door to door (with beer in hand of course).

Visited the Schapacher Farm again this year to pick out pumpkins and take a hay ride. This is the second time we’ve done this now and I think it going to grow into a custom for this family.

Grandparents came to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday and just had a great time spoiling the grandkids.

Started to play indoor soccer again on Monday nights with guys from work. It’s been a blast to compete again.

Winter

Ethan’s 3rd trip to the ER from falling at daycare and hitting his head on the corner of a bookcase. It was pretty bad gash, I’ll have write a separate post on that one. He needed 7 stitches on that one.

I’ve made it through my first year working at Kroger and it’s been a great experience so far, especially making new friends and relationships.

Christmas was celebrated at our home this year and the kids got quite a bit from Santa. We were able to have all the kids over on Christmas Eve from Angelina’s side of the family

NYE was very low key for us this year, I ended up with a case of strep throat and passed it down to Ethan and Taylor. This was the first time 3 out of 4 of us got antibiotics at the same time…lucky for Angelina, she didn’t get it.

So it’s been a great 2010, I can only be thankful for the blessings I received this year. Here’s looking at 2011 and hope we win the lottery…

I just got back from a weekend spent up in the north woods of Michigan for some snowmobiling and skiing. This was the annual “mancation” that started back in 2005 during my Vegas bachelor party. For the past number of years, “mancation” has always been at Vegas. This year, we decided to rough it out with winter sports up in Harbor Springs, MI and the Boyne resort area. It was the first time I went snowmobiling and it was amazing. We rented snowmobiles for 4 hours and traveled all over the area through the north woods of Michigan.

Here’s a clip of the action that I took on my iPhone.

Another annual event I look forward to every year is catching a Miami Redhawks football game with a group of my buddies. For past 3 years, we’ve always gone to a popular German bar on campus prior to kickoff to enjoy a couple beers in traditional steins and their well known soft pretzels. This year we decided to change it up a little and actually do some serious tailgating at the fields outside the football stadium. We brought the grill, corn hole sets, a Heineken mini keg, the whole nine yards…Miami was playing Bowling Green, one would think that the in-state rival game would draw a significant crowd for some tailgating action. I mean, what college doesn’t tailgate during football season?

Well, to our surprise we were completely shocked and deflated when we drove onto the tailgating area right outside the stadium (after paying $10 bucks to a couple of ROTC students dressed in fatigues) to find out that we were not only the FIRST ones to show up for some tailgating….but the ONLY ones to tailgate! To all Miami students, you should all be ashamed of yourselves…where’s the love of the game?
