Well, it’s been far too long since I’ve had a chance to write a new post here, so now that the house is empty, I have some time to provide a quick recap of what a busy and quick 2010 it has been.
Spring
- Congratulations to Christine on her marriage to Dan! I got to fly out to Denver to celebrate the great occasion! Colorado is still one of my favorite places to visit.
- Ethan makes his first trip to the ER for a dislocated elbow he got at day care…turns out this is called nursemaid’s elbow, which is quite common. I could have saved a boat load of money by taking him to urgent care rather than a hospital. (Lesson learned)
- I got to witness the aftermath of a cow eating it’s own placenta after giving birth to a calf just hours before…I had no idea they did that. What was even more interesting is the cats in the barn took part in the feast too
Summer
- Congratulations to Jeff on his wedding! This time the whole family flew to Minneapolis to celebrate ! Our first time flying with both kids and it actually went pretty smooth! Kids loved visiting Mall of America as spent most of the day watching Taylor and Ethan’s reaction to seeing Dora and Sponge Bob.
- Ethan’s second trip to see the Dr. was a result of a kitchen chair falling back and hitting him right above the eye. Luckily, the Dr. was able to mend the cut with skin glue as opposed to stitches
- Angelina and I did the P90X from start to finish and even though we did not follow the dietary guidelines of the program, it definitely shed pounds and made me stronger.
Fall
- It’s been a great football season, I played in 3 fantasy leagues this year and made it to 2 championship games. I won one and lost the other, but I think overall I came out with winnings.
- The Bengals were disappointing this year after winning their division outright just last season. I was grateful to at least see 2 games at Paul Brown Stadium though. One against the Saints and the other against the Browns.
- Ethan had his first Halloween trick or treat this year and he dressed up as Yoda. Taylor was a little fairy and Dad and his friend Mike spent the cold evening pulling the kids in their radio flyers and going door to door (with beer in hand of course).
- Visited the Schapacher Farm again this year to pick out pumpkins and take a hay ride. This is the second time we’ve done this now and I think it going to grow into a custom for this family.
- Grandparents came to visit over the Thanksgiving holiday and just had a great time spoiling the grandkids.
- Started to play indoor soccer again on Monday nights with guys from work. It’s been a blast to compete again.
Winter
- Ethan’s 3rd trip to the ER from falling at daycare and hitting his head on the corner of a bookcase. It was pretty bad gash, I’ll have write a separate post on that one. He needed 7 stitches on that one.
- I’ve made it through my first year working at Kroger and it’s been a great experience so far, especially making new friends and relationships.
- Christmas was celebrated at our home this year and the kids got quite a bit from Santa. We were able to have all the kids over on Christmas Eve from Angelina’s side of the family
- NYE was very low key for us this year, I ended up with a case of strep throat and passed it down to Ethan and Taylor. This was the first time 3 out of 4 of us got antibiotics at the same time…lucky for Angelina, she didn’t get it.
So it’s been a great 2010, I can only be thankful for the blessings I received this year. Here’s looking at 2011 and hope we win the lottery…
